Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli

Rise early to enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel this morning before we depart by road to Amboseli National Park, which is famous for its breath-taking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This park also shelters more than 420 species of birds, an enormous elephant population and other big game who are attracted to the underground springs fed from the melting snows of Mount Kilimanjaro combined with its excellent opportunities to view Kenya's animals, make it one of the most-visited safari parks in Kenya .Afternoon we proceed into the scenic Amboseli National Park, Despite its small size (392 sq km), this fragile ecosystem supports a wide range of mammals (well over 50 of the larger species) and birds (over 400 species). It has a mixed topography of plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush, swamps and marshes. This diversity, along with a long dry season, ensures excellent viewing of the large concentrations of African animals living in this natural habitat. When you arrive at the park, the warden will give you several common sense rules: do not get out of your vehicle, except at designated spots; do not harass the animals in any way; keep to the tracks; no off-road driving; and remember that the animals always have the right of way. The roads in Amboseli have a loose surface of volcanic soil that is dusty in the dry season and impassable in the wet season. With its awesome view of Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest mountain at 5,895m), Amboseli National Park offers a unique and breathtaking backdrop for viewing Africa's animals. It also has a dry Pleistocene lake basin that houses a temporary lake, Lake Amboseli, after the rains.

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

Awake early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. We will then set off on a “spice” game drive. Amboseli is an excellent place to view a multitude of wildlife, including everything from wildebeest to giraffes to baboons. Amboseli is home to the legendary Masai tribesmen. These warriors are a famous and proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with wild animals are known across the world. The waters from Mt. Kilimanjaro drain down the mountain under lava flows and surface in Amboseli, creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains.  Amboseli lacks the profusion of animal species found in the Mara, but the landscape provides limited cover so we have better chances of seeing some of the larger predators. Elephant, buffaloes, lions, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, jackals, warthogs, Masai Giraffes, zebra, baboon, and waterbuck are all present in the park. All meals and overnight at the camp / lodge

Day 3: Amboseli / Lake Naivasha

Depart Amboseli for Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake located on the Great Rift Valley Floor. You will arrive in good time for lunch and siesta. Spend the day relaxing at your lodge or camp or take a late afternoon optional excursions in Naivasha. You can enjoy a scenic sunset boat cruise to see the hippos and walk on Crescent Island among wildlife, herbivores only. The waters draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, buffalo wallow in the swamps and colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lake’s large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows. Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, which is home to resident giraffe, water-buck and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys. It is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on the expansive lawns. Alternatively, you can opt to go on a nature walk along Crescent Island, which is an excellent way to see wild animals while on foot. The island is a private game sanctuary that is home to zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, vervet monkeys, hares, genet cats, waterbuck and giraffe. All Meals and overnight at the lodge or camp

Day 4: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara

Today you will make your way from Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara Game Reserve – the jewel of Kenya's national parks to arrive in time for lunch and afternoon game drive. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains and is famous for its role during the spectacular great wildebeest migration. It is also home to the “big five”: elephant, leopard, rhino, lion and cape buffalo. There are over 400 lions resident in the reserve and neighboring conservancies. It is normally relatively easy – and high on most visitors’ must-see lists. Leopards are also seen increasingly often, and good sightings of cheetahs can be expected. Other regular predators include fascinating spotted hyenas (rarely bothered by human observers and compelling in their social interactions) black-backed and side-striped jackals, and cute pairs of bat-eared foxes. With luck, you may also see a Serval – a lanky, striped and spotted cat of tall grass and bush, adept at catching small mammals and birds. The most rear predator of the Masai Mara, the wild dog, is a beautiful, nomadic pack animal.  You will explore the reserve until the late evening, at which point you will return to the camp. Here we will relax around the camp/lodge fire before an excellent dinner.

The Masai Mara is one of the greatest wildlife wildernesses in the world. Large mammals are varied, abundant and easy to see. It is host to the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals of any wildlife park in the region. The scenic appeal of the tree studded savannah plains, the moderate climate and the diversity of wild game species here makes it a one stop shop for game viewing activities. We shall traverse the Masai Mara during a full day of unlimited game viewing, encountering the “big five” and many more. You will eat a picnic lunch next to the Mara River as we watch hippos and crocodiles or the great migration (July – October). Masai Mara National Reserve is a pristine wilderness of haunting beauty, it promises its visitors a profusion of wildlife, prolific bird life and the unprecedented opportunity of catching up with all the members of the ‘Big Five’ in one morning. The 1,800 sq kilometers of this veteran reserve offers the classic mix of African imagery; miles of lion-gold grasslands, shoals of lilac-misted hills, a meandering river, acres of thorn-bush and mile upon mile of undulating wilderness. Game viewing in this wildlife reserve is excellent all year around thanks to the diverse population of resident game, including the Big 5 – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – plus other species like zebra, giraffe, hyena, eland and gazelle.
